16 December 2022 Alberta, Canada Peyto Lake should be top of the list of places you have to visit in the Rockies. This incredible lake has to be seen to be believed and most people we met actually rate it even more highly than the stunning Moraine Lake and Lake Louise.

Peyto Lake is located on the Icefields Parkway (Highway 93) between Lake Louise and Jasper. Currently, the only way to get there is by driving, unless you book a tour that stops there. You can't see the lake from the highway, but the turn off is well marked with signs and there's a parking lot.

There are two factors when looking for accommodation in the Banff National Park area close to Peyto Lake: weather and budget. Weather permitting, we recommend camping in one of the well equipped campgrounds along the route. Silverhorn Creek and Mosquito Creek campgrounds are the closest to Peyto Lake.
